There are many species of wild solitary bees in the UK. Many solitary bees may check into the house and live side by side. They'll make individual nest cells for their larvae, supplying a small supply of food before sealing the entrance with mud. The eggs hatch into larvae, which feed on pollen until the new bees emerge the following spring. Solitary bees are harmless, not aggressive, and rarely sting.

Place the bee house in a sheltered, warm, south-facing position, well above the ground. Try to ensure that there are plenty of nectar-producing plants, flowers, and trees nearby. Bees will need a source of water, so ensure there is a local supply nearby.
